Shawn A. Carter

Shawn Carter was born in Houston, Texas in 1977 and was raised in Lafayette, Louisiana.  Carter graduated from St. Thomas More High School in 1995.  He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Studies in 2000 from The University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he graduated cum laude and received the Outstanding Graduate award for his college. He received a Juris Doctor in 2003 from Louisiana State University, where he served on the Law Review Board as the Executive Senior Editor.

After graduating from law school, Carter returned to his hometown of Lafayette.  He began practicing with the law firm of Durio, McGoffin, Stagg & Ackermann and became a partner in 2011.  Before joining Randazzo Giglio & Bailey LLC as a Member in 2012, Carter assisted clients in business organization and counseling and litigation involving contract disputes, intellectual property, unfair competition, trade secrets, employment disputes, redhibition, premises liability, collections, property, oil and gas. He represented both residential and commercial owners, developers, sub-consultants, and primary consultants in both public and private construction projects. Carter also gained extensive experience representing hospitals and doctors in medical malpractice litigation and other health care matters.

Since joining Randazzo Giglio & Bailey LLC as a Member in 2012, Carter’s practice has become primarily focused on general business and oil and gas litigation and transactions and the examination and analysis of land and leasehold titles.  He has gained considerable experience rendering title opinions (drill site, division order, leasehold, and supplemental).

Carter has a Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating™ of AV Preeminent® and has been listed in Acadiana Profile’s Top Lawyers.  Carter is a member of various professional organizations, including the Lafayette Association of Professional Landmen, the Lafayette Parish Bar Association, the American Inn of Court of Acadiana and the Louisiana State Bar Association.
